2. Get informed:
You cannot prevent breast cancer by having a mammogram, but it helps to detect the cancer early and to be able to treat it more gently.
3. You make an appointment:
You cannot prevent breast cancer by having a mammogram, but it helps to detect the cancer early and to be able to treat it more gently.
4. Arriving for the appointment:
Our screening team will welcome you and ask you to fill out a questionnaire.
5. You will be supervised during the examination:
A radiographer will attend to you personally and help you with the questionnaire. She will explain the examination to you and take the images.
6. You will receive the images:
Two images will be taken of each breast. For this purpose, your breast is gently pressed, but this is necessary to enhance the image quality and the reduction of the radiation dose.
7. Your images are analyzed:
Two specially trained radiologists meticulously and independently review your images.
8. Your result:
Within seven business days, you will receive the results of your exam by mail. Most women will receive the message that her examination was unremarkable and are given a new appointment in two years.
9. In case of an abnormal finding:
If the images show suspicious or unclear findings, you will be invited for a further examination.
10. If treatment becomes necessary:
If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, we will work with you to arrange further treatment at a specialized breast center. We will be happy to accompany you and answer any questions you may have..
